The Brazilian critic of classical music Antonio Hernandez was referring to Christine Walewska as the "goddess of the cello." She was born in America but has lived in Argentina during 12 years where recorded for the Philips label. In Brazil, she gave two recitals in the 60s and also recorded in Rio de Janeiro a 12 inch LP, and a unique 7 inch compact that is the only known in all her worldwide discography.

É a performance da "Echo Serenade" do Mestre Ennio Bolognini que Walevska toca. Enio Bologini elogiou Piatigorsky como "o maior violoncelista do mundo... "não sou eu nem Feuermann disse Piatigorsky. É um Argentino de nome Bolognini!" Ele foi um gênio admitiu o "violoncelista mais talentoso". Bolognini aprendeu a tocar guitarra acústica com o mestre espanhol Segovia ainda criança. Essa música intitulada "Echo Serenade" é uma técnica transcendental que me lembra uma guitarra flamenca! Bolognini nunca publicou a partitura de sua própria música em vida. Artistas proeminentes como Rostropovich e Starkel pediram-lhe repetidamente que mostrasse a partitura, mas ele continuou a recusar. "Então, passei todas as minhas músicas para a minha discípula Christine Walevska, dizendo: "Só você pode continuar tocando." Apenas a Sra Walevska parece ser capaz de tocar a música de Bolognini até agora. Na turnê pelo Japão, nós teremos você tocando algumas dessas músicas dele.

Brings back memories. Way back in the very early Sixties, when I was in junior high school in Los Angeles, I had a huge crush on Christine Walevska, who had just graduated from the Conservatoire in Paris. She was the daughter of Herman Walecki, a very kind dealer in string instruments in L.A., who sent me to my first serious cello teacher, a displaced French woman named Margot Jean. I remember that I hung in my bedroom a poster for a recital of Christine's, which featured a a good photo of her. I think that she had something to do with my decision in the early Seventies to go to the Paris Conservatoire, where I studied for a while with Maurice Gendron.

Christine Walevska's newest CD was out just recently & I got it from Itunes , found out it's available as well on Amazon .... Incredible & as fantastic as always ... so Unique , so RARE !

Brings back memories. Christine Walevska's proud father, an instrument dealer in Los Angeles, sold me the first cello that I ever owned, back at the beginning of the 1960s, when I was twelve; and he also sent me to my second private cello teacher, a transplanted Frenchwoman named Margot Jean. Needless to say, I had a big crush on Christine at the time (although she didn't even know that I existed): after all, here was an attractive teenage cellist who had scored a success in glamorous, far-off Paris. Who could resist? (Not I...!)
